Makeup & Face Powder

While women turn to the power of makeup to make them look absolutely beautiful, more often than not they get the complete opposite. Too much Eye Shadow and that sultry, smoky look turns into the equivalent of a black eye. Not enough blush, and your cheeks look very unhealthy. Choose the wrong lipstick? You can attract the wrong attention, while failing to secure your dream job.

“Plastered on” makeup, along with not choosing the right type of makeup, will be a very bad combination for you.  Also, too much  application -  can give your skin the appearance of lifelessness and dullness.  This is not what you want in your Face Powder results.  not by a long shot.

As you can see on the hollywood carpet, all of these actors and actresses appear to have a lot of makeup on, yet have a look of perfection in the skin. So what is a mere mortal like myself going to do to compete with that? Only one way to deal with this and do as the Hollywood glamor group does – You look to the makeup artists and do what they do:

Start with the right Makeup Foundation.

Give that foundation comprises the whole face and not just parts of it like some other makeup applications, picking the correct tone for your facial features is the most important element in the foundation process . Choosing wrong and all your effort at makeup perfection will be thrown down the tubes.  Now in terms of the TYPE of foundation, most makeup artists consider  Liquid Foundation because it gives the most natural, smooth appearance for your skin.  Remember that the next time you are starting your foundation process because it’s super important.

Now in terms of applying the foundation to your face, using a makeup sponge instead of Powder Foundation would be a better choice because  liquid foundation goes on much more evenly and  natural than powder foundation. Powder foundation can look patchy, and can create dry spots on the skin. So get a quality liquid foundation, and perfection is what will be the end result!

Now step two is choosing a foundation that is complementary to your complexion.  If you have dark skin, then you will want a darker foundation and vice versa if you have Light Skin.

As professional makeup artists will tell you, they will never use a foundation that is stright for the bottle. They will always use a combination of different liquid foundation colors as a way to come up with a color that is right for a certain individual.  I mean, let’s face it, not everyone is exactly the same shade of color.  So it only makes sense to mix and match in order to come up with the right shade for your complexion.  Now the ordinary person can duplicate this by only working with companies that deal with custom made colors.

Blush, the secret ingredient.

Blush is the single most important ingredient that you can apply n your makeup arsensal. Once foundation is applied, you will indeed not be able to see your imperfections – but the Natural Skin colorations of your face are as well. The effect of your cheek bones are dampened, which is not good, so using blush to reestablish that glow will bring back your cheeks. Also, you do not have to have one certain color for your cheeks. Use whatever Skin Color that matches your skin and shape of  your face.

Ok, now that you have chosen the right blush for you, then get the correct type of brush to apply the blush.  A large, rounded type is usually the best. Now look at your face.  Study it.  Look where the contours of your cheekbones are. Now apply the blush in upwards strokes so that it hugs the contours of those cheeks. We want to make the cheekbones look more pronounced, to give the illusion of a slimmer and more symmetrical face.

Makeup Color

Many professional makeup artists use color palettes to choose the perfect colors that compliment your skin.  Make sure that you fully understand your skin tone, and choose your makeup colors accordingly. For example, if you have an olive skin tone, you want to avoid yellows and greens, but instead, choose roses and browns.

As long as you always remember that makeup is supposed to accentuate your already good features and not cover it up, then you will always be on the right path to perfect makeup.

Below i thought i’d add a natural looking makeup tutorial.  It gives some great advice.  Enjoy!
